Academics in Physics & Astronomy

 

The Department of Physics and Astronomy offers three degree programs (click on the name of the degree below for current curriculum sheets):

 AB with a major in Physics

 BS with a major in Physics

 BS with a combined major in Physics & Astronomy

 

It also offers Physics courses for the BS in Education degree with certification in Physics.

The AB degree program in physics is designed for students who are interested in fields that benefit from a strong background in physics or for students planning to terminate their education at the bachelor's degree level. The BS degree program in physics is designed for students who plan to pursue graduate studies in physics. The BS degree program with a combined Physics-Astronomy major is designed for students who plan to pursue graduate studies in astronomy or space sciences.

The Physics minor consists of 10 semester hours of physics courses and 8 upper division semester hours:

  • Physics 2610 – General Physics 1
  • Physics 2610L – General Physics 1 Lab
  • Physics 2611 – General Physics 2
  • Physics 2611L – General Physics 2 Lab
  • Plus 8 hours of upper division electives in physics
