The B.F.A. in Theater is an intensive academic and co-curricular training experience in the total art of theater, integrating both performance (acting, directing) and design/technical (lighting, scenery, costume) areas, with the expectation that an enhanced mastery in one of these areas will be demonstrated by the time of graduation. This is a pre-professional program with heavy emphasis upon theater coursework and production experiences, and hence it offers less opportunity for taking elective courses or minors than is allowed in the B.A. program. AN AUDITION IS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION TO THIS MAJOR.

B.F.A. in Theater - Contact the Chairperson of the Department of Theater and Dance (phone 330-941-3810, or email theater AT ysu DOT edu) to schedule an audition. You will be asked to present two contrasting monologs of 3 minutes total duration, and/or present a portfolio of your previous theater experiences. Examples of contrasting monologs include comic/serious; classical/modern; realistic/stylized, etc.
