Your advisor (faculty or professional) in the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences is available to assist you in exploring areas of learning both in the classroom and out. We want to encourage and support you in establishing your goals and help track your progress towards these goals during your time at YSU.

2011-2012 Undergraduate Bulletin (curriculum, course descriptions, minors, etc.)

Below are some things to consider discussing with your advisor along the way:

Freshmen:

Make an appointment to meet with your advisor before your registration date. If you experience any difficulties go to your advisor. We can then refer you to the appropriate resources to help ensure your academic success any time of the year.

Sophomores:

Begin talking to your advisor about possible minor areas of study. Find the requirements for the minor in the Undergraduate Bulletin. Start looking into possible experiences in research with faculty, field experiences, internships, etc.

Juniors:

Experience as much in your field “outside” of the classroom as possible. Participate in research, “try” possible careers out via internships and field experiences. Make sure you file for a Graduation Evaluation in the Division of Academic Advising office once you have completed approximately 83 hours.

Seniors:

Meet with your chair/advisor to ensure that you do no have any further requirements to complete. You will apply for graduation within the first three weeks of the term you intend to graduate. Applications are mailed to your home address. Make certain YSU has your correct address.
