When Will You Learn?

When do you take journalism classes?

The journalism major is designed so that nearly all classes build upon the foundations that you gain in Basic News Reporting and Writing, English 2622. Before you can enroll in this Basic News Reporting and Writing course, however, you need to have completed Composition I, English 1550, and Composition II, English 1551. (Please see your journalism adviser before scheduling Composition II as there may be a "journalism-dedicated" section of this course running and we will want you to take that.)

After taking this basic journalism class, you are able to move onto other courses in the major. We strongly advise you to take Advanced Reporting, English 3760, after completing Journalism Workshop, English 3721L.

Senior project, English 4899, must be done in the Fall of your senior year and we recommend that you take the Internship Course, English 4898, during your junior year. Please work with your adviser on lining up an appropriate and professionally challenging internship.
